Slowly but surely the idea of therapeutic massage as self-care rather than an indulgence seems to be taking root.
And not only with the public but also the formal health industry, including medical schemes.
Today I can announce that another major medical scheme has added massage to their claims list.
In January 2017 I wrote a blog post expressing my gratitude to the past and current leadership of the Massage Therapy Association of South Africa (MTASA) for convincing Discovery Medical Aid scheme to be the first to reimburse for massage therapy treatments.
I am happy to inform you that another major medical scheme has added massage to their claims list.
Medihelp is now reimbursing for therapeutic massage treatments!
Thanks to our professional organisation relentlessly pursuing other medical schemes since Discovery took the lead in 2017, MTASA recently received confirmation that therapeutic massage codes have officially been added to the Medihelp claims list staring with immediate effect but subject to the scheme-specific Medihelp option rules for 2018.
So, to all the Medihelp members out there, speak to your broker or study the scheme rules, make your appointment and invest in your well-being with massage.
